The number of Covid-19 cases this week seems good so far and today, the Ministry of Manpower (MOH) preliminarily reports the lowest number for this week so far.

Yes, even lower than the day when PM Lee called for an election.

Today, MOH reports 113 new Covid-19 cases.

5 are in the community: 4 work pass holders, 1 Singaporean/PR.

Foreign workers residing in dormitories make up a vast majority of the cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore to 42,736.

Also, more places are opening up in Singapore now, including public libraries.

Everything About the New Restrictions in Public Libraries Once They Reopen From 1 July

Previously, when Singapore entered Phase Two on 19 Jun, public venues like libraries and museums are not allowed to operate yet.

On 24 Jun, the National Library Board (NLB) announced that they will be reopening 26 national libraries, including the Ford Factory from 1 July 2020.

However, there’ll be some T&C involved.

For one, all of them will operate for shorter hours:

  • National Library Building, the National Archives of Singapore building, 25 public libraries: 11am to 7pm
  • Former Ford Factory: 11am to 4pm

Also the libraries will be operating like F&B outlets during the Circuit Breaker period and Phase One; You can only “dabao” books away from the libraries.

These activities will not be available when the libraries reopen:

  • Seating and study areas
  • Multimedia and newspaper stations
  • Programmes, guided tours and events at NLB’s physical spaces

In other words, if you’re someone who loves going to the library to read newspapers or books while enjoying the free aircon, it’s still not possible. Yet.

Limited Capacity

Also, to adhere to the regulations and guidelines of Phase Two, NLB will be limiting the number of people within their premises as well.

Only 50 persons will be allowed per floor and each patron who visits the library will be timed and limited to 30 minutes.

To reduce queuing, you can book for an entry slot at NLB’s online booking system, which will be revealed later.

Other rules like mask-wearing, SafeEntry, temperature-taking and safe distancing will also be enforced.

You can head to this website or use the NLB mobile app to check the crowd level at the nearest NLB before heading over.
