While it looks like we’re doing relatively well compared to other countries, here’s a fact you’d need to know: Taiwan has gone through 200 days without a single locally transmitted case.

So yes, despite today’s goody results, we’re still far off from Jacky Wu’s and Jay Chou’s motherland.

Today (30 October 2020), as of 12 pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 9 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

7 of them are imported. 1 is a community case while another 1 is a dorm case.

This brings the total number of cases to 58,003.

Based on yesterday’s numbers, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 2 cases in the week before, to 3 in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 1 case in the week before, to 3 in the past week.

Fewer Than 70 Active COVID-19 Cases

As of yesterday, 57,899 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 37 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 30 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

This means a total of 67 people are still active COVID-19 confirmed cases.

28 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
