Yesterday, it was reported that the average number of community cases has doubled from 4 in the previous week to 8 over the past week.
Well, it seems that we’re overdue for some respite because today, there are only 2 community cases.
Singapore reports 386 new Covid-19 cases today (8 June), out of which, two are cases in the community.
One is a Singaporean while the other is a work pass holder.
Foreign workers in dormitories make up the rest of the numbers.
With today’s cases, the total number of cases in Singapore is brought up to 38,296.
COVID-19 is Here to Stay & Things Will Change
While New Zealand is well on its way to completely killing Covid-19, Singapore still has quite a way to go.
In the first of the series of lectures prepared by the Singapore government, PM Lee took to the screen to talk about how Covid-19 is here to stay for “quite some time”.
Until a vaccine is found, the world isn’t going to be the same, and we’ve to change the way we work, play and socialise.
Short weekend trips to Bangkok or Hong Kong would be a thing of the past; some jobs will be gone forever and workers have to upskill to stay relevant.
The vaccine might take more than a year to be readily available, so we’d have to get used to this disruptive world. The older generations have gone through various crises, so we can, too.

He also spoke about how Singapore has pumped in almost $100 billion dollars to help soften the economic impact of Covid-19.
While it has worked (somewhat) so far, Singapore’s finding it hard to sustain such generosity.
In short, don’t expect anything more (unless the situation worsens) and start making use of whatever you can find out there.
He also added that for the next few years, the world is going to be a troubled place with countries fighting one another over a bigger piece of the pie.
We took that to mean that he wants Singaporeans to become more competitive (and more skilful) so Singapore has more to fight with.
After all, to get investors, you need a good workforce who are ready to adapt to anything, right?
The next speaker will be Minister Lawrence Wong who will be taking to the screen at 9.30pm on 9 June 2020.
