54 COVID-19 Cases Today (10 Aug); 53 Are Community Cases With 15 of Them Unlinked

Singapore might look a tad different today as people are now dining in hawker centres and eateries, but the number of COVID-19 infections remains the same as it goes on a downward trend.

As of 12pm today (10 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 54 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

53 of them are community cases, and out of the community cases, 15 are currently unlinked.

31 infections were linked to previous cases and had been placed in quarantine. Another 7 cases linked to previous infections were detected through surveillance testing.

Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 835 cases in the week before to 526 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 261 cases in the week before to 149 cases in the past week.

The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 53.9 and 21.3 respectively.

From Today Onwards, S’pore Residents Can Walk Into Any of the Vaccination Centres for the COVID-19 Vaccine

From today (10 Aug), all citizens, PRs, and long-term pass holders in Singapore aged 12 and above will be able to walk into any vaccination centre to get their shot.

There are a total of 37 vaccination centres to choose from: 26 offering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, and 11 administering the Moderna vaccine (only for people above 18).

As for seniors aged 60 and above, they have been allowed to walk into any vaccination centre, polyclinic, or participating Public Health Preparedness Clinic to receive their vaccination without an appointment since mid-July.

This was implemented to encourage more seniors to get vaccinated, as they’re at a higher risk of falling severely ill from COVID-19.

527 Cases in Hospitals; 8,042,596 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered

527 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 35 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 10 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU). 7 amongst these 45 cases are fully vaccinated. Of these, 5 require oxygen supplementation while 2 require ICU care as they have underlying medical conditions.

34 seniors above 60 years, of whom 28 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill.

As of yesterday, there are currently 131 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,148 infections.

As of 8 August 2021, 70% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, and 79% has received at least one dose. In total, we have administered a total of 8,103,735 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, covering 4,367,061 individuals, with 3,862,510 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 131,497 doses of Sinovac vaccines have been administered as of 8 August 2021, covering 81,709 individuals.
