40 COVID-19 Cases Today (20 Aug); 36 Are Community Cases With 14 of Them Unlinked

Temperatures might be low today, but the number of COVID-19 cases isn’t low.

As of 12pm today (20 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 40 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

36 of them are community cases, and 14 of them are unlinked.

Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 412 cases in the week before to 290 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 112 cases in the week before to 80 cases in the past week.

The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 30.0 and 11.4 respectively.

391 Cases in Hospitals; 8,507,687 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered

391 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 29 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 8 in critical condition in the ICU.

Of those who have fallen very ill, 28 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 22 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

As of yesterday, there are currently 84 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,155 infections.

As of 18 August 2021, we have administered a total of 8,507,687 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna), covering 4,453,578 individuals, with 4,186,252 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 153,913 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of 18 August 2021, covering 84,219 individuals.

In total, 77% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 82% has received at least one dose.
