As we prepare to close the month of June, we get nearer to marking two years of this dreadful pandemic. But looking at today’s COVID-19 numbers, not everything is dark and gloomy! Who would have thought that we’d have only single-digit new infections, and more imported cases than community cases once again?
As of 12pm today (28 Jun), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19 infection.
Four are community cases, with none unlinked. The remaining five are imported cases.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 62,553.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 108 cases in the week before to 95 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 13 cases in the week before to 18 cases in the past week.
COVID-19 Cluster in Changi General Hospital Grows to 10 After 27 Jun’s Cases
Five of the 12 community cases reported yesterday (27 Jun) were linked to the Changi General Hospital (CGH) cluster.
They are:
- A 58-year-old Singaporean woman who is a homemaker
- A 16-year-old Singaporean girl who is a student at Republic Polytechnic
- A 62-year-old Singaporean man who works as a porter at CGH
- A 24-year-old Singaporean woman who works as a porter at National University Hospital (NUH)
- A 69-year-old Singaporean woman who works as a healthcare assistant at CGH
The healthcare assistant was last at work on 21 June. She developed body aches on 24 June and sought medical treatment at a polyclinic on the same day, but was not tested for COVID-19.
She then developed a fever and sore throat the following day and sought medical treatment at a GP clinic that night, where she was referred for a COVID-19 test.
On 26 June, she sought medical treatment at CGH and was tested for COVID-19. Her test result came back positive on the same day.
Her earlier tests from rostered routine testing (RRT), the last being on 21 June, were all negative for COVID-19 infection. She received her first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine on 23 June.
The CGH cluster now has a total of ten cases.
The remaining cases that were added to Singapore’s count yesterday (27 Jun) are:
- Two new community infections linked to the cluster at 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre
- One new community infection linked to the cluster at 105 Henderson Crescent
- One new community infection linked to the Case 64394 cluster
- Two new community infections linked to the Case 64444 cluster
- One new community infection which is currently unlinked
- Two imported cases
313 Active Cases
There are currently 148 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 4 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
165 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
36 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
