About 120 Crystal Jade employees have been given notice that their jobs will end, as four more of the chain’s Singapore restaurants have closed.
The outlets shut on 6 October 2026. Advisory firm Kroll disclosed the changes on 7 October as part of preparations for a potential sale of the Singapore business. Those losing their jobs include restaurant staff and employees in some corporate roles.
The latest closures come after Crystal Jade shut five other Singapore outlets earlier in 2026, at Hillion Mall, Suntec City, Great World, The Clementi Mall and Jurong Point.
Which Outlets Have Closed?
The closures involve these four locations:
- Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao at Bugis Junction
- Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao at Toa Payoh
- Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao at i12 Katong
- Crystal Jade GO at Oasis Terraces in Punggol
Kroll said the vacated premises would be returned to their landlords.
Nine restaurants remain in operation in Singapore, while the Singapore holding company’s workforce will number about 210 after the reorganisation, according to Kroll.
What Happens To Affected Workers?
Kroll said employees would be paid through their last day of employment. Restaurant staff would serve the notice periods that apply to them and receive compensation under their employment contracts.
Workers with questions about their final salary or benefits can approach the company’s human resources team.
The Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU) said the receivers had approached it to help affected workers, although Crystal Jade is not unionised.
FDAWU and NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) have identified more than 400 job openings in food manufacturing, food services, hospitality, wholesale and retail.
Employers including Din Tai Fung, Paris Baguette and Neo Group Bakery conducted interviews at the site of Crystal Jade’s briefing for affected staff. Union representatives also helped workers with questions and explained available support.
According to AsiaOne, affected workers can arrange a session with an e2i career coach through its appointment website or call 6474 0606.
Business To Be Offered For Sale
Kroll representatives became receivers for the holding companies of Crystal Jade’s Singapore and Hong Kong operations on 29 September.
A receiver’s role is to protect or recover asset value, with control over the assets covered by the appointment.
Kroll said it intends to seek a buyer for the business as a going concern, meaning it would be sold as an operating business. The aim is to retain its brands and restaurant operations.
As of its 7 October statement, Kroll expected no further Singapore outlet closures or additional operational restructuring arising from the proposed sale.
Separately, the group’s Singapore central kitchen, Crystal Jade Food Manufacturing, stopped operating on 5 October. Kroll said this company is outside the receivership, and management made the closure decision as part of the group’s wider restructuring.
