If you’re a pedestrian with common sense, you probably know that the one thing you shouldn’t do is crossing the road in the middle of traffic.
In short, jaywalking.
I know what you might be thinking: everyone does that at some point!
But have you seen anyone jaywalk in the middle of an expressway?
Or better yet, have you ever seen a car stop in the middle of the expressway just to alight a passenger so that they can jaywalk across to the other side of the expressway?
As crazy as this sounds, it’s something that actually happened in real life.
Passenger Alights in the Middle of CTE to Cross the Expressway
On 22 June, a video was uploaded on the SG Road Vigilante’s Facebook page, featuring a bizarre incident that happened on the expressway.
The incident happened on 21 June, along the Central Expressway (CTE).
In the video, a black Volkswagen Jetta can be seen on camera stopping in the middle of CTE, in front of another Volkswagen.
Its purpose?
To alight a passenger so he could cross the road.
As the car moves off, the passenger can be seen climbing over the guard railing in the middle of the expressway to get to the other side.
I call this, ‘Dumb Ways to Die 101’.
Fortunately, the act did not cause an accident.
The same car Spotted Driving Dangerously on Other Occasions.
Turns out, the said Volkswagen Jetta, is an old “friend” of the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, apparently featuring in many other posts of theirs.
In fact, the Facebook post opens with a dry: “guess who is back?”
In the same video, several other occasions of Volkswagen presenting dangerous behaviours on the road is shown.
In another incident along Alexandra Road on 15 April, the same car can be seen refusing to give way to a car. As a result, the Volkswagen can be seen crashing into the car, from the side.
In another incident on 21 March, along Victoria Street, the Volkswagen can be seen on camera yet again, this time swerving between two lanes at high speeds right before the traffic lights. It seems to have only slightly missed the car stopped at the traffic light.
Later in the video, the camera also shows the Volkswagen coming out from a side road and failing to give way to traffic on the main road. It also swerved in and out of lanes and tried to create an accident.
Seriously, someone needs to get this guy off the road.
