“Don’t be so kaypoh and stick your nose into others’ businesses – you’ll pay for it!” is a sentence you’d probably have heard from your mother multiple times while growing up, but never really cared about.
When you’re so caught up with the mess that others have made with little regard for your own situation, it could very soon turn messy for yourself as well – like this guy has learned.
Distracted By Another Accident
On 27 Dec, footage of an incident whereby a cyclist had crashed into the rear end of a car was shared on Facebook page SG Road Vigilante.

The video showed a few cyclists travelling down Yishun Dam, and was presumably taken from the back camera of another cyclist in front.
In the video, it could be seen that an accident had taken place along the side of the road earlier in the afternoon involving a lorry that was almost completely flipped over after another vehicle had struck it.
The cyclist, alongside other riders, were then made to cycle on the adjacent lane to go on their way, separated by traffic cones to avoid the accident lane.
He was seen whipping out his phone, tapping on it, then proceeding to snap a photo of the earlier accident – all while still cycling on his moving bike.
Perhaps he just wanted to show it to his friends or post it on social media, but he failed to consider that the photo would’ve brought him more harm than good.
After keeping his phone back into his pocket, the cyclist went on his way past the traffic cones, but still kept looking back at the accident scene – and that was his second mistake.
Crash Landing On A Car
The cyclist, with his eyes not on the road and not seeing what was in front of him, crashed into the rear end of one of the cars that were parked alongside the road in a line.
Is that a bird? Is that a plane? No, it’s a flying bike.

The impact had caused his bike to catapult into the air with both wheels off the ground, flinging the cyclist onto the hard road under his bike.
He was probably aware that there were cars parked in front of him, but simply miscalculated the distance and failed to turn back around in time.
It was to no fault of the car owner, for people are actually allowed to park along that westbound section of Yishun Dam from 7am – 7pm on Sundays and public holidays.
Reported To Police
SG Road Vigilante also shared a follow-up post saying that the car’s rear windscreen had been terribly shattered thanks to the impact of the collision.
However, the cyclist had allegedly fled the scene after that, leading to the car owner filing a police report after the incident, labelling it as a “hit & run”.

Not only might the cyclist be liable for charges brought about by the damage, but he may also face other charges for the use of his mobile phone while riding.
Cyclists are not supposed to be using their mobile devices while riding unless mounted to their vehicle, a law under the Active Mobility Act that was made effective since 1 Aug. Anyone found guilty of this offence may face up to a fine of $1,000 and a jail term of up to three months.
Moral of the story: there’s a price to pay for being too much of a busybody.
