There are scary bridges all over the world. Some, however, are scarier than others, whether that was the intention or not.
For most, the intention was never to have the bridge be scary. What would be the point of a scary bridge? Bridges are for crossing, and making it scary is completely counterintuitive. It’ll sooner make people fall off than successfully cross it.
Chongqing, China has a different idea about bridges, though.
From the same madmen (probably) who came up with the Guinness World Record-setting glass skywalk earlier this year in March, comes a bridge to scare you shitless.
By the way, this is the skywalk. It juts out about 80m from the cliffside.
The bridge is built parallel to the side of a cliff, so visitors have the choice of either walking along the cliff face like a normal person, or skip along planks above the yawning abyss.
Oh yeah, the bridge isn’t made out of glass like a skywalk or anything. There are uneven planks along the thing, and you have to hop. Or you’ll fall off and die.
That is, if you somehow managed to get onto the bridge without a safety harness, which they thankfully provide.
Take a look at some pictures, if you have no balls/no money to actually go there.
From the way those “planks” are placed, I’d wager they’re movable, for more/less challenge.
It’s like a 2-in-1 attraction: you stay on, it’s a cool, exciting bridge. You fall off, it’s a free bungee jump!
