By now, I’m sure everyone’s heard of how Victoria Beckham has eaten grilled fish and veggies daily for the past 25 years. (If you haven’t, check it out here.)
While we’re all still wondering how on earth she does it, here’s something else that has to do with the Beckhams and fish.
David Beckham’s Chinese New Year Dish
In a Facebook video uploaded on the first day of Chinese New Year (1 February), Beckham shared a new dish he had learned to usher in the year of the Tiger: Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish.
In the short 37-second video, Beckham demonstrated his cooking skills while he cooked in celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen.
In his caption, he even said “must say I’m quite proud of how it turned out”, and his facial expressions when trying his own dish clearly reflected that as well.
He also said a few Chinese New Year greetings throughout the video, including “新年快乐” (Happy New Year), “年年有余” (may you enjoy prosperity year after year) and “虎虎生威” (may you forge ahead in the year of the Tiger).
Ok lah, he pronounced nian as ni an, and maybe the dish isn’t completely authentic, but hey, it’s still a great effort, right?

Netizens’ Comments
The comments were largely positive, with many Facebook users thanking Beckham for appreciating Chinese culture and wishing him a Happy Chinese New Year as well through various greetings, images and cute GIFs.
Others (understandably) swooned over how good he looked in the kitchen.
Some also poked fun at the recent news regarding his wife:
But no one in the comments summed up Asian or Chinese culture as well as this person.
Really though, is anyone going to dispute this fact?
Well, I guess we might be seeing more of Beckham in the kitchen.
Maybe he’ll even upload a video of him cooking grilled fish and veggies in the future…
