Delivery Driver Receives ‘Formal Warning’ After Leaving Parcels Unattended in Lift Lobby

You know what they say, right?

When you work, do your job properly, because even if your boss isn’t around to supervise your work, other people are always watching.

And none of them understands this sentiment more clearly than a recent delivery driver.

Delivery Driver Receive ‘Formal Warning’ After Leaving Parcel Unattended in Lift Lobby

On 8 Sep 2020, a netizen identified as Az took to STOMP to report a negligent act by a delivery rider.

She said that she was on her way out to dinner with her husband when she came across a box of online purchases left unattended at the lift lobby on the ground floor.

Upon taking a closer look, she was shocked to realise that it was a box full of online purchases.

Within, it contains a lot of Shopee parcels, she added.

She noted that the parcels were seemingly being delivered by J&T Express and ask how the delivery driver could be so negligent.

“It does not matter how cheap or expensive the items are. Negligence is the issue here.”

She added that all delivery platforms should make more effort in maintaining good services and be extra careful with customers’ orders.

J&T Express Responds

So, there are two questions that have to be answered here.

One, did this incident really happen? The answer to that is, yes.

A spokesperson from J&T Express has responded to the incident.

Acknowledging that it has happened, the delivery company stated that they have investigated the matter and determined that the driver has breached their Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

It was added that the driver in question has been issued with a formal warning.

“The secure handling of our customers’ parcels is our highest priority, and we would like to sincerely apologise to our customers for this procedural breach.”

The company also pledged to maintain their service standards by continuously reminding drivers of the standards they are expected to uphold, through both regular training and “information sharing sessions”.

Now, here’s the second question: Is this the right reaction to an action, or is it an overreaction that shouldn’t have been published online to shame any specific company?

And that, my dear readers, is a question that you can only answer yourself.

Is this a legit concern, or just someone making a mountain out of a molehill to get something viral online?

Let us know in the comments section, yeah?
