A foreigner was seriously injured after being hit by an out-of-control car that mounted the pavement.
The driver remained in the vehicle after the accident, appearing disoriented and rocking back and forth.
Here’s what happened.
Victim Attempted to Flee Before Being Struck
A foreign man who had just finished his meal was standing by the roadside when he turned and saw a car careening toward him.
He immediately tried to run away, but couldn’t escape.
The vehicle struck him, sending him flying two meters before he landed on the ground bleeding profusely.
He was hospitalised with serious injuries.
The accident happened around 10:00 AM on Monday (10 Mar 2025) on a stretch of road at the junction of Geylang Road and Lorong 16 Geylang.
The unfortunate victim was a middle-aged foreigner.
Shin Min Daily News received a notification from a reader about the accident, stating that a foreigner had been knocked down by a car at the location.
A nearby electrical box and a tree were also knocked down in the collision, making the situation quite serious.
When reporters arrived at the scene at 10:30 AM, they found Civil Defence vehicles parked by the roadside and dozens of people gathered around.
The foreign man was lying on the ground with people believed to be his friends or relatives standing anxiously nearby.
The man lay motionless on the ground, with blood covering his face and around his nose and mouth.
A piece of flesh on his thigh was even turned outward, indicating very serious injuries.
Driver Appeared Disoriented After Crash
Several paramedics provided initial treatment for the injured man before lifting him into an ambulance for emergency treatment.
His friends or relatives left with him.
According to sources, the injured foreigner is believed to be a tourist.
Based on information obtained by Shin Min Daily News, just before the incident, the foreigner turned around and saw the car rushing toward him, which frightened him into running away.
Unfortunately, the car headed straight in the direction he was running, leaving him with nowhere to escape.
He was eventually hit by the car towards an electrical box, then thrown two meters onto the ground.
The electrical box was damaged in the collision, and the car only stopped after hitting a nearby tree, showing how violent the impact was.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed the incident when asked, stating they received a report at 10:15 AM and sent one person to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and another to Raffles Hospital.
The Disoriented Driver
The driver, a middle-aged Chinese man, was still sitting in the car when reporters arrived at the scene, but his condition was noticeably abnormal.
Based on observations, the man was swaying back and forth in the car, speaking incoherently and intermittently.
He laughed foolishly at one point and put his feet up on the steering wheel.
He tried to stand up several times but seemed unable to, and then sat back in the car.
Paramedics later gave the man an IV drip, helped him out of the car, and finally carried him into an ambulance for hospital treatment.
Car Hit Two Motorcycles Before Main Collision
Before hitting the foreigner, the car also knocked down two motorcycles nearby.
A motorcyclist said that at the time, he saw the driver dancing inside the car.
According to reports, the car had knocked down two motorcycles on the main road near Lorong 23 Geylang before hitting the foreigner.
The two accident sites were less than 200 meters apart.
