After nine days of endless searching, Oreo, the dog that escaped from her crate at Changi Airport, has finally been reunited with her owner.
Went Missing on 1 April
On 1 April at around 8.45pm, Oreo, a dog with black fur coat, was found to have escaped her crate while getting on board to an SQ plane at the airport.
Her owner, Peixuan Sng, posted a notice on Facebook page Lost and Found Pets in Singapore, asking for the public’s help to look for her missing dog.
Despite SATS and Changi Airport ground staff using Sng’s iPad to search for Oreo with her AirTag, they were unsuccessful in locating her.
Still Missing After 48 Hours
Over the course of the next few days, Sng continued uploading posts on Facebook about the search process.
Using all measures to find her beloved canine, Sng even went back to the airport compound to search for Oreo with the airport team and Sng’s other dog, Toffee.
However, even after 48 hours, she was still nowhere to be found.
Sng continued to appeal to people who were in the area to keep a lookout for Oreo and inform her immediately if she was sighted.
Beloved Dog
Even after close to a week of unsuccessful searching, Sng refused to give up.
The process of being apart from her beloved Oreo for so long was definitely a heart-breaking one as she shared in a Facebook post.
Oreo, which turns six this year, has been with Sng since she was just a puppy and is both special to Sng as well as Toffee, Sng’s other dog.
Finally Found After Nine Days
While the search was long and tough, Sng, a dedicated owner, never gave up.
And after nine long days, the tireless search finally paid off because Oreo was found on the airport premises and reunited with her owner.
The search to find her had involved over 842 people, 800 islandwide flyers and many social media postings.
In a Facebook post, Sng expressed gratefulness to everyone who had been involved in keeping the search going.
Of course, to be reunited with her long-lost dog, Sng couldn’t be happier.
“Today is truly the happiest day of my life,” she wrote, adding that her world was “complete again”. Aww.
It is definitely fur-tunate that Oreo was found unscathed.
