Is your critter sick and tired of acing all the pre-existing dog run tracks in Singapore?

Because if it is, here’s one more for it to blow out of the park.

A new dog run has opened at East Coast Park. And from the tentative looks of it…

The area’s all set to give you, as well as your critter, some really efficient bonding time together.

Everything About the New Dog Run in East Coast Park You Should Know

A new dog run has opened at East Coast Park.

Spanning 0.2ha (2,000 square metres), the area is touted to be the largest in the East, and can be found at Parkland Green within the park.

It’s said to be at least two times the size of other dog runs in the East, with the next biggest area being a 0.1ha space at Katong Park.

There’s also a bird perch located right beside the dog run, which means that duos such as this one can bark and fly freely in unison once again.

Lest you’re wondering, here’s how the area roughly looks like.

Meanwhile, bird lovers would surely have a great time interacting with their pets at the new bird perch.

Both facilities were reportedly designed in consultation “with the community”, said NParks.

The perch, for one, was constructed using upcycled woods from East Coast Park; it was designed in consultation with Bird Craze, a bird owner community.

As for the dog run, it was designed in consultation with Susan Tan, a dog enthusiast.

Both Francis Mitchell from Bird Craze and Tan are participants in the all-new Friends of East Coast Park (FoECP) – a “ground-led initiative” that encourages the responsible usage of Singapore’s “green space”.

Apart from members of the pet community, the group also consists of park tenants, volunteers and various stakeholders.

Things To Take Note Of

According to National Parks Board (NParks), the new dog run is situated right next to the underpass.

Bird owners who are keen to bring their feathered friends along should make sure that they are sufficiently trained.

Those heading down to East Coast Park should also make sure to comply with basic safety distancing measures. Group sizes must not extend beyond 5 people (currently), and there’s strictly no intermixing between groups.

Participants must also wear a mask at all times.

If you’re interested in joining the new Friends of East Coast Park Community (FoECP), you can find out more details here.
