Domestic Helper Killed In Farrer Road Accident โ€˜Was Like Familyโ€™ To Employers

It was just like any other day for the 49-year-old woman, who goes to Empress Market near Farrer Road MRT station daily to buy vegetables.

Afterwards, she would routinely eat breakfast at the marketโ€™s food centre with her sister and other helpers.

Unfortunately, that morning, she was involved in a fatal accident wherein she was hit by a car at a covered walkway outside the MRT at 6am.

The driver had lost control of the car, and it mounted the curb, hitting Ms Mantos.

A 24-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the case.

She Was โ€œWonderfulโ€

The 48-year-old woman, named Ms Lyn Ocampo Santos had been working for her employers for a whopping 15 years.

They told The Straits Times, โ€œWe are very sad. We miss her, her friends miss her and her colleague also misses her.โ€

She was also described as โ€œwonderfulโ€ and was very kind and helpful, and had many friends.

Perhaps whatโ€™s most heartbreaking is the fact that she had plans to travel home in March 2020 to attend her older sonโ€™s graduation ceremony.

She also volunteered regularly at a church, and on the day of the fateful accident, she had travelled to the market to purchase ingredients for a church event.

Her employer also said that they had plans to hold a memorial service for her, however, the date and time have yet to be confirmed.
