Christmas is like five days away, and there is so much stuff to do.

Have you done your gift shopping yet?

Have you caught the dazzling Christmas lighting along Orchard?

Did you take some time off to listen to some good old-fashioned Christmas carols?

Well, if you have not, then I’d suggest you make your commute via train or bus.

Yes, there will be live music and other performances at selected MRT stations and bus interchanges to put you in the Christmas spirit.

Can you feel the Christmas spirit?

From now till Christmas Eve, SMRT has scheduled performances across the East-West, North-South and Circle Lines—maybe it is their way of making up for all the mishaps this year.

If you happened to be at Bugis MRT station yesterday during lunchtime, you would have been entertained by buskers along the East-West Line exit.

They belted out classic festive tunes such as Silver Bells, Let It Snow, Jingle Bell Rock, alongside Mandopop and Malay tunes.

There will also be Christmas-themed stickers that will be given out by frontline SMRT staff and staff volunteers.

Performers

Local basking duo, Ang Cheng Wei and Er Young Yee aka The Unemployed will be one of the many performers that will be part of this initiative.

And no they are not unemployed, the former works in a bank and the latter works as a management associate.

Doing this out of pure interest, Cheng Wei does the singing while Young Yee plays the guitar

Muhammad Firdaus Osman, who became popular after performing Radiohead’s iconic song Creep in the train will also be making an appearance.

Creep (Live Acoustic Cover in the MRT) – Radiohead

Yup, we played Radiohead's Creep in the MRT… for fun! 🙂 Eventually, the MRT staff stopped us but he was kind enough to let us finish the song. This is Singapore, they don't really appreciate the arts. Music is all about expressing yourself no matter where you are. Although we only played one song, there were a few who applauded to our performance. We really appreciate it!Nevertheless, it was a great experience with the lads!
