On a separate note, there’s news circulating around that H&M is expanding their line of home furnishings to Singapore and people here may soon get to purchase pretty translucent curtains or frilly pillowcases from the store soon.

More than an average retail store, the CEO of the company first started out by selling cheese at his father’s butcher store. He got inspired by fashionable female apparels that were sold at an affordable price while on a trip to the United States.

That was when his idea for a fashion business was born. First starting out as a store named ‘Hennes’, which meant ‘hers’ in the Swedish language, the retail outlet only sold female clothes. He soon found fashion retail expert, Mauritz Widforss and together, they created H&M. Their range of business and items that were provided soon grew into a multinational business with over 3,700 stores in 61 countries worldwide.

Since its business operations from 1947, H&M have been known to collaborate with various fashion designers creating many fashion events in the world. Fashionistas would have heard of the renowned fashion designer, Alexander Wang who was invited to collaborate with H&M on a series of sportswear.

According to him, the graphic on the tee only appears when you’re sweating. Certainly encourages more people to start being active! Famous singer, Rihanna, was also seen draped in his clothes.

During another collaboration, this time with Balmain in 2015, popular celebrities including Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid were also seen dressed in their apparels. Known as successful models, the pair with their fellow models posed for photo shoots and walked down runways, promoting not just Balmain, but H&M as well.

Though successful and well-known to the world, H&M continues to provide their customers with fashionable apparels at affordable prices.
