Not every opposition political party in Singapore has the luxury of a Leader of the Opposition donating part of his earnings to the party.
Some of them have to find other ways to earn some money for themselves, since being an opposition party member without getting elected is practically like a CCA. There’s no money involved.
Which is probably why the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) decided to leverage the star power of one of their members.

Now, if you’re just looking for a way to contribute to SDP’s fight for a more democratic Singapore and you don’t really want a mashed potato, they welcome donations too.
SDP has put up a good showing this year with both Dr Paul Tambyah and Dr Chee Soon Juan having an increase in the number of vote shares compared to the previous election.
While visibly dishearted after the GE2020 results reveal, Dr Chee Soon Juan had said that the party will continue to keep up the good fight for a more democratic Singapore.
Nonetheless, they did not put up a good enough showing to get the NCMP seats.
So, what’s an NCMP (Non-Constituency Member of Parliament)? Do you know that it’s just like an MP but the allowance is much lower? Watch this video to find out more:
