On 28 January 2025, some individuals had the chance to see a dragon flying in the sky.

Unfortunately, the incident was not exactly the most pleasant one.
Here’s What Happened
The incident occurred during a reunion dinner event at Gim Seng Heng Seafood Restaurant along Sin Ming Drive on Chinese New Years Eve.
According to Mr Chen, the owner of the restaurant, they had hired a lion and dragon dance troupe, performers, and the “God of Fortune” to the event to add to the festive mood.
Well, that didn’t turn out as planned.
The restaurant conducted two reunion dinner events that evening. They had specially set up a stage and even hired an emcee for it. The incident occurred nearing the end of the first event, which was from 5PM to 8PM, when the second last dish was being served.
According to Shin Min Daily News, a dragon dance puppet had gotten caught on the massive ceiling fan at the restaurant, causing the puppet to be flung out into the crowd of diners.
In the video provided by the reader, all was going normally, with the dragon dance troupe members lifting and twisting the puppet body up and down.
Unfortunately, at one moment, the body of the puppet was lifted too high up, causing it to get caught on the massive ceiling fan. The dragon puppet and the poles used to control it was flung out into the crowd.
This caused a stir in the crowd, apparent by the sudden chatter of concerned voices heard and the faces of shock seen in the video.
At the end of the video, someone was heard shouting in Chinese, “Someone is bleeding! Someone got hit!”
Mr Chen, further shared with Shin Min that a forty-year-old male diner suffered from minor injuries. Fortunately, it was not very severe. He told Shin Min that the restaurant and the dance troupe will bear any medical fees incurred due to this injury.
An @sgfollowsall follower also shared in the caption of the @sgfollowsall Instagram page that his father was one of the casualties and “his head got hit by the sharp end of the pole of the dragon and he got a very deep injury on his forehead”. According to this witness, the pole “missed his eye by just a few cm”
The witness said that they have made a police report. The restaurant has expressed their apologies, but the dance troupe has yet to reach out to do so.
When Shin Min reporters contacted the dance troupe from Wee Ghee Athletic Association, they had little comments and simply stated that the incident occurred as a result of “measurement problems”.
