Before we talk about the two ERP gantries being activated, here’s another bad news: The rates for some of the gantries (along North-bound CTE after PIE) are being revised and will go up as of 20 February 2017.
Here is the list.
On the bright side, it’s only a dollar, right?
According to LTA, congestion had been getting rather bad upon review, so they will also be activating two gantries, located after Adam Road and at the Mount Pleasant slip road into PIE (Changi), during evenings.
Traffic speeds had been going as low as below 40kmh, much lower than the optimal range of between 45kmh to 65kmh.
Here are the details for the activation of the ERP gantries.
Meanwhile, works have started to prepare for the activation of an ERP gantry at the Tampines slip road into KPE (ECP), just before the tunnel entrance of KPE. This was announced last year August.
This is reportedly due to congestion during the morning peak hours, with vehicle speeds dropping to as low as 30kmh.
All these wouldn’t be a problem if we all went to take public transport instead. Unfortunately, even though passenger satisfaction is up to 96%, the trains still like to break down.
Which makes one wonder, will activating the ERP gantries fix the trains?
I, for one, am waiting to find out.
