A lot of us Singaporeans love to go to Malaysia.

For those of you with vehicles, taking a quick trip down to Johor Bahru is sometimes a go-to activity over weekends.

Namely for cheap buys and great eats of course.

And if you drive or ride in, you may have seen this before.

You might’ve heard of it as “Touch ‘n Go”, a pretty familiar smart card service especially for those entering and leaving Malaysia.

And it’s also about to be gone from JB customs.

Touch ‘N Gone

All of us should take note here before the next JB trip.

Touch ‘n Go top-ups at the Johor Bahru (JB) Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) will no longer be available soon.

This will take place starting from 29 October which is less than a week from now.

Better start planning ahead for all those trips now.

This was actually super convenient for motorists since they could just top up their card on the spot at exits if they were running low.

A Facebook post from PLUS, the company that manages the system, explains why and it’s honestly understandable.

The notice explains that topping up at tolls wastes roughly one to three minutes per vehicle.

And if you know how long these traffic queues in JB can get, that is A LOT of time wasted.

Removing them not only helps to reduce congestion but allows for smoother traffic flow and driver safety as well.

Where Else To Top Up

After the removal happens, PLUS mentions that Touch ‘n Go can still be found at places like self-service kiosks, malls and petrol stations.

They won’t be gone forever, guys.

In fact, there’s actually a whole list of areas where you can find out where you can still reload your cards here.

The safest solution is to just have your card topped up prior to avoid the need to even do so.

Also good to take note that all reload lanes will be out of operation from 24 to 29 October to facilitate traffic during the festive period.

So unlike the previous case with the Vehicle Entry Permit, this one is pretty much confirm-plus-chop going to happen.

Don’t say we never warned you. Or perhaps…don’t say bojio?
