162 Suspected Drug Abusers Arrested, One Is a 14-Year-Old Girl

Over the past two weeks, while we’re busy celebrating the drop in Covid-19 cases, officers in the Central Narcotics Bureau were hard at work rounding up suspected drug abusers in Singapore.

From 14 until 25 Sep 2020, CNB officers carried out raids at Jurong West, Bukit Panjang, Paya Lebar, Balestier and Tampines.

162 Suspected Drug Abusers Arrested

At two hotel rooms in Beach Road, the officers arrested five Singaporeans, four of them, men and one woman, between the ages of 34 and 56.

According to ST, one of them is a 35-year-old man who had his 12-year-old son in the room with him.

Yes, the room with drugs reportedly displayed (and presumedly used) openly.

In that particular raid on 24 Sep, the officers found 122 packets of heroin (858g), 71 packets of ice (133g), 104 Ecstasy tablets and one Ermin-5 tablet.

A karambit knife was also recovered in one of the rooms.

In another raid, a 38-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman was arrested. More drugs were found when the man was taken to his unit nearby.

$20,000 in cash was also reportedly found.

In total, they managed to arrest 162 suspected drug abusers through the 11-day islandwide operation.

Drugs worth an estimated $260k were seized in the raids.

These include:

  • 870g of heroin
  • 586g of methamphetamine or Ice
  • 176g of ketamine
  • 47g of new psychoactive substances
  • 322 Ecstasy tablets
  • 203 Erimin-5 tablets
  • 13 bottles containing GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate)

There is also a 14-year-old girl arrested among the 162 suspects. Not many details are revealed about the arrest of the girl, however.,

Investigations of all the suspects are reportedly underway.

CBD Car Chase

Just two days ago, another man had led the police on a high-speed car chase through Anson Road before he collided with two other vehicles and mounted a kerb.

While investigating the scene, a female traffic police was knocked down by a passing car at the junction of Anson Road and Prince Edward Road.

According to ST, the man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving causing hurt and suspected drug-related offences.

Four people were conveyed to the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident, including the suspect who attempted to escape and the female police officer.
