Man So Drunk, He Banged His Hand Twice on Police Car Boot That Caused 2 Dents

We all have stories that start out with the sentence: “Man, remember that time I was so drunk that I…”.

Most of these embarrassing tales involve passing out on the side of the road or drunk-dialing an ex, begging them to take you back.

But have you ever been so drunk that you slammed your head against a police car boot so hard that it dented?

No? Well, one man has, and he’s paying the price for it.

A Long List of Offences

A 24-year-old man has been fined $4,800 for several offences after he socialised with five colleagues during the circuit breaker.

On 19 April, the man, Navarro Charles Josef Guimere, who worked at FOC Pim Pam restaurant along Orchard Road, met six other employees after business hours for a social gathering.

According to TODAYonline, the seven of them hung out and drank alcohol until around 11pm, after which Navarro left with one of his colleagues.

It’s at this point that things become weird.

Guimere decided to lie down on a public pathway near the restaurant to sleep. One passerby called the police.

When police officers and paramedics arrived and tried to wake the 24-year-old up, he refused to go home and even challenged the police to arrest him.

Not the smartest move.

At around 1.20am, officers arrested Guimere and tried to get him into a police car, but he struggled and banged his head on the boot of the car twice.

In fact, he slammed his head so hard against the boot that it caused two dents.

Unable to move him into the car, officers told him to sit at the side of the road to calm down, reported TODAYonline.

When they later tried to get him into the car again, he struggled, and so “necessary force had to be used to secure him”, Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Timotheus Koh said.

Then, he cursed at one of the officers who was trying to secure his seat belt.

Yes, how dare you care about his safety?

His blood sample was found to contain 91 milligrams of ethanol per 100 millilitres of blood, 11 milligrams over the legal driving limit.

Pleaded Guilty to Two Charges

Guimerem pleaded guilty to two charges of causing annoyance while drunk in a public place under the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act and verbally abusing a public servant.

He also met his friends during the circuit breaker, so two other charges under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Regulations) 2020, as well as another for committing mischief will be taken into consideration for sentencing.

Don’t Go Overboard

While residents can now make social visits, you are still not allowed to have social gatherings with your employees during Phase 2, according to The Straits Times.

Residents should maintain a safe distance of at least 1 metre at all times when they go outside, or, if they’re out in groups, keep a distance of 1 metre from other groups.

Social gatherings should be limited to five people and masks must be worn at all times.

While it’s nice to be able to meet our friends and eat out, we shouldn’t go overboard and disregard the safe distancing rules in place.

Several fights broke out on Friday (19 June), the first day of Phase 2. It’s almost as if some Singaporeans couldn’t wait to go outside so they could punch random strangers.

And people were seen congregating in large groups near Holland Village like it was a newly-opened Jollibee outlet.

If we don’t want to go back to Phase 1, we need to take safe distancing rules seriously. The authorities have faith in us to do the right thing.

Let’s not prove them wrong.
