Life’s a race, they said.

Such quotes you hear being thrown around everywhere can hold a different meaning for different people – some may think that it means you just have to keep going and persevere to reach the finish line before others do.

Others, like this man, perhaps took it too literally with the belief that life’s a big Grand Theft Auto simulation that you’ll only win by avoiding the police to get away scot-free.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Goose Chase

The streets of Paya Lebar momentarily turned into a movie scene that night, where one man desperately tried to outrun police cars who were hot on his tails.

On 30 March, a bald man was caught running a red light on Paya Lebar Road at about 10:55 pm, driving towards its upper section.

According to the police, traffic police witnessed the man doing so and signalled for him to stop so they could check – but he sped off instead.

The goose chase then ensued all the way until Haig Road, which was about three kilometres away.

It’s not a short distance, so it’s rather impressive that he managed to evade the police for that long, although it was short-lived.

Sirens were blaring from the police car the whole way, leaving many residents curious about the events that were unfolding before their very eyes as the cars approached them.

Got Caught As He Tried To Park

Mr Yu, a 58-year-old resident of Block 1 along Haig Road, told the media that two police cars suddenly appeared downstairs at about 11:30 pm.

Upon hearing the loud sirens, he became curious and went to see what was happening.

Several police officers were seen searching a bald man and his car, which made Mr Yu believe that the man might have been involved in a drug-related case. How epic.

Another female resident who witnessed the accident recounted that the man had been driving towards the HDB parking lot.

Before the man could park and abscond, two police cars sandwiched his car from the front and the back, effectively surrounding him.

Only then did the man get off of the car for questioning following the police’s instructions.

This lasted until 1 am when the police finally left the scene, taking the bald man with them in a police car, said Mr Yu. Afterwards, a tow truck also arrived to collect the man’s car.

He was arrested on the spot on suspicions of dangerous driving, drunk driving, and failing to stop when instructed by the police.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the chase. Investigations are currently ongoing as well.

Sticking to video game races would probably be the better option.
