Elderly Bullied in TPY Hawker Feud Speaks Out. Turns Out He Has a Facebook Account

If they were his own children, he would have taken them to task.

Those were the exact words of Mr Ng Ai Hua, the victim in the infamous Toa Payoh Hawker centre ‘brawl’ nearly 4 months ago.

Here’s a flashback in case you’ve forgotten

He had seen an umbrella placed on a table for five and courteously asked a woman at the table whether there was any space for him to sit down.

She, however, responded by throwing insults and vulgarities at him. She was none other than Ms Tay Puay Leng (left).

Soon after, a man rushed over and shoved Mr Ng from behind. The man is Mr Chow Chuin Yee (right).

Videos of the incident garnered views and became viral, and a manhunt commenced.

Four days after the incident, the violent couple were arrested, but it was only last Friday that they were fined.

Couple felt remorseful and wants to apologise personally

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the couple had felt regret over their brash actions and wanted to apologize to Mr Ng personally.

They claimed that they felt pressured by society (read: SJW) and likened themselves to fugitives.

Mr Ng accepts their apology but wouldn’t want to see them again

Mr Ng was at home just last night, entertaining The Straits Times for an interview.

When prompted for his response to the ‘apology’, he said that he accepts it, but he doesn’t wish to see them in person.

He does, however, acknowledge that the couple had received enough ‘punishment’.

To him, the couple didn’t just face a hefty fine, but also verbal abuse, both online and in person.

That has left them ashamed and unable to lift their heads in public, and it’s enough to satiate his anger.

You would be surprised to know that Mr Ng has a Facebook account! He, however, chose not to follow the online discussions because they ‘would never end’, and he already knew the whole story.

Choping Culture in Singapore “Silly”

What does Mr Ng think of the ‘choping’ culture in Singapore, though?

Well, he thinks that it’s ‘silly’. According to him, acts like ‘choping’ tables with tissue paper are way too ambiguous.

Did they accidentally leave the packet on the table, or are intending to return? How would someone be able to tell? Is he expected to wait?

Now, Mr Ng simply wishes for everything to die down.

He said that people would be aware if the couple truthfully regrets their actions. If they weren’t, people would judge for themselves. That’s life.

What has happened is all in the past, and he just wants it to stay that way.

I don’t think we’ve seen many men like Mr Ng, who’s willing to forgive and forget after such an outrageous act by juniors half his age.

Kudos, Mr Ng, you have my respect!

Honestly, if it was me I would stay salty and incensed at the perpetrators for a way longer period of time, but that’s just me!

Incidentally, you can look up Mr Ng’s Facebook account if you want to be friends with him!
