According to Mothership, SBS Transit spokeswoman Grace Wu said that the man fell before he could hold onto a support pole.
The bus captain immediately rendered first aid to the elderly passenger and called for an ambulance. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received the call for assistance at approximately 7:40pm, while the Singapore Police Force (SPF) was alerted to the incident around 8:20pm.
The passenger was conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he later passed away.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to them during this difficult time of loss,” she shared.
Family Seeks Eyewitnesses for Closure on Bus Accident
The family of the deceased has turned to social media to appeal for eyewitnesses.
His granddaughter, identified as Sharlene Lee on Facebook, posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page stating that the man had hit his head during the fall. She mentioned that he had boarded the service 262 bus at AMK Hub.
The granddaughter also posted on Xiaohongshu, saying the family is “waiting for investigation findings from the police and coroner”.
However, they are seeking witnesses to help them understand what happened and find closure.

Family members found it puzzling that the elderly man was standing when the bus was still “quite far” from his residence.
