With prices of literally everything increasing, so do ERP rates.
Zooming to work with your car may be a less-than-ideal choice, and you may need to resort to public transport now (which is somewhat speedy, provided you don’t live along a particular train line prone to breakdowns).
At seven locations starting the following Monday (3 April), the ERP rates will increase by $1.00.
Remember that these seven gantries are also along some of the busiest routes.
Why the Increase?
According to LTA, the increase in charges comes after monitoring traffic conditions in February, which detected the stretches of expressways with the most traffic.
To manage congestion in these areas, LTA has adjusted the ERP rates by $1.00 at seven locations during 16 specified time periods.
ERP rates were last adjusted in February along five busy stretches of expressways.
The Affected Areas
Firstly, motorists travelling through the three gantries on AYE after Jurong Town Hall towards the city will pay $2 from 7:00 am to 7:30 am and $1 from 9:30 am to 10:00 am.
Those entering the gantry on southbound CTE before Braddell road will now have to pay $2.00 for two time periods, 7:00 am to 7:30 am and 7:30 am to 8:00 am.
Motorists passing through the set of four gantries along southbound CTE after Braddell Road and PIE slip road into southbound CTE will have to pay $2.00 between 7:30 am to 8:00 am and $4.00 between 8:00 am to 8:30 am.
Motorists passing through the gantry along the southbound CTE Auxiliary Lane to PIE (Changi)/Serangoon Road will pay $2.00 from 7:30 am to 8:00 am and $5.00 from 8:00 am to 8:30 am.
Those entering the set of two gantries along PIE (Adam and Mount Pleasant) will pay $2.00 for two time periods, 7:30 am to 8:00 am and 8:00 am to 8:30 am.
Motorists passing through the gantry at KPE (Defu Flyover) will pay $1.00 from 7:00 am to 7:30 am, $5.00 from 8.30 am to 9.00 am, $2.00 from 9:00 am to 9:30 am and $1.00 from 9:30 am to 10:00 am.
Finally, those passing through the gantry on westbound PIE towards Eunos will pay $1.00 for two time periods, 7:30 am to 8:00 am and 8:00 am to 8:30 am.
Other Rates Unchanged But Not Set in Stone
According to LTA, the rates for other time slots not mentioned have remained unchanged.
The number of locations and time slots charged this time is still lower than that charged pre-COVID.
But this is definitely not the end of their rising charges. LTA said they would closely monitor traffic speeds and congestion levels and further adjust ERP rates should any changes occur.
So, from now until Monday, make sure you treasure your time on the road before you start crying again about the hike in ERP rates.
