An incident which occurred at a coffee shop yesterday (16 November) resulted in a 66-year-old lady to sustain some head injuries.
The incident took place at Yong Li Coffee Station in Eunos Crescent at around 10.30am.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, the bench she was on was suspected to have flipped over due to the screws coming loose.

Ms Annie was at the coffee shop waiting for her friend when the incident occurred.
While she was sitting on the bench drinking coffee, she fell backwards when the bench flipped. The sudden impact resulted in Ms Annie to hit her head against the bench behind her.
The 66-year-old was bleeding from the head due to the injuries. She was conscious at that point in time.
Upon witnessing the incident, many passers-by came forward to help Ms Annie by stopping her bleeding with tissues.
According to an eye witness, some rushed over to help the lady up and tended to her injuries, while others called for the ambulance.
Ms Annie was then sent to Changi General Hospital, where she received stitches for her head injuries.
When interviewed by Lianhe Wanbao, Ms Annie’s husband, Mr Xie, shared that he came to know about his wife’s incident after he received text messages and photos from his son.
Ms Annie’s son received a call at around 10am, and rushed down to the coffee shop so that he can accompany his mother to the hospital.

Both Mr Xie and his son mentioned that they hope the coffee shop will take responsibility for the incident.
Based on reports, the coffee shop had undergone a round of renovations in the beginning of the year, with new tables and benches installed.
The case is currently undergoing investigations.
Similar Incident
For those who recalled, a rather similar incident occurred last month at a Tampines coffeeshop.
On 28 October, an extra-large fan had fallen off from the coffee shop’s ceiling at around 7pm. The mishap resulted in two people to be injured.

According to some eyewitnesses, the large fan had hit a ladder and subsequently sprung out of control.
Images shared by witnesses showed that the fan’s blades were bent at an angle and drooping down from the ceiling.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted at 7.10pm to the incident. The two injured diners were sent to Changi General Hospital for treatment.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
