We have all met with rejections at some point of time in life, be it during a job interview, or when you ask your crush “ai stead mai?”.
Most of the time, we would just move on from the rejection. Sometimes, we would dwell about it a little and post some sad quotes online or a picture of us crying.
Hardly would anyone resort to murder – HARDLY.
One-sided Love Story
The accused, Boh Soon Ho, a 51-year-old Malaysian, was being charged for murdering Zhang Huaxiang, 28, on 21 March 2016.
The incident happened in a flat located at Circuit Road where Boh had rented a bed space.
According to CNA, Boh had seen Zhang as her girlfriend, however, the lady did not reciprocate his feelings.
The two were said to have met around 2011 when Zhang and Boh were working as servers in the staff cafeteria at the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort.
Zhang later left the job and worked as a nurse after completing her Diploma.
In March 2016, Zhang was said to have rejected Boh’s invitation several times, Boh grew suspicious and started spying on her. He then caught her hanging out with a man three days before the murder, which made him “increasingly jealous”.
2nd Rejection When He Wanted To Make Love With Her
On the day of the murder, Zhang was invited over to Boh’s flat for lunch where he started hugging her and told her that he wanted to make love to her after the meal.
Zhang then scolded him, saying that he was “crazy” and that he needed to “go away”. However, the accused pushed her to his bed, climbed on top of her body and tried to force his tongue into her mouth.
Okay, which part of “go away” did he not understand?
Zhang then shouted for help and Boh used his hands to cover her mouth. He proceeds to force his hands under her clothes and caress her breasts before letting her go.
“It Was Normal For Me To Be Intimate With My Ex”
Afterwards, Zhang tried to flee to the living room. However, Boh dragged her back into his bedroom and accused her of lying to him, stating that he had seen her leave her block with a Chinese man three days ago.
The deceased explained that he was her ex-boyfriend and they had gone out a few times. She added that it was normal for her to be intimate with her ex-boyfriend, as reported by TODAYonline.
This infuriated Boh who then used a towel to strangle Zhang from the back for about two minutes.
Wanted To Satisfy His Sexual Desire
After killing the deceased, Boh told himself that “since she had died and I have never seen her naked before, I should undress her.”.
He then proceeds to remove his underwear and Zhang’s clothes and tried to have sex with the corpse. He, however, could not sustain an erection.
It was also reported that he had taken a few nude photos of her body and had licked her before trying to have sex.
Considered Chopping Her Body And Packing Her In Luggage
Boh was said to have plans to get rid of the body by packing the corpse into his luggage and disposing of it.
However, as the corpse had started to stiffen, he was unable to bend the body.
He also contemplated whether or not to chop the body up but he said that he “couldn’t bring himself to do it”. Hence, he decided against it and left the body on his bed.
Boh then went through Zhang’s belongings, stole her mobile phone and $50, and made plans to flee the country.
Crime after crime after crime, what was he thinking?
Fled to Malaysia
Boh was reported to have slept next to the body over the night and left for Malaysia the next morning on 22 March 2016.
He also left the air-conditioner and lights in his bedroom switched on before fleeing, hoping that it would stop Zhang’s body from decomposing.
He then fled to Malacca where he stayed at his younger sister’s place.
The body was later found by his landlord who made the police report.
Called His Landlord And Confessed
The day after the body was discovered, Boh called his landlord saying that he was in Kuala Lumpur and confessed that he killed Zhang as he was “furious and jealous”.
He also said that there is “no turning back” for him as he is now a murderer and described his anger as “fire burning”.
Boh’s landlord then submitted a recording of their phone call together with the text messages that they have exchanged to the police.
Boh was eventually arrested by Malaysian police on 4 April 2016 while he was eating at a restaurant and was brought back to Singapore the next day.
The autopsy report by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) showed that Zhang’s cause of death was due to manual compression of her neck.
A psychologist from the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) reported that Boh was not intellectually disabled and he was aware that what he did was wrong.
The trial continues, and if found guilty of murder, Boh will be sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
Lastly, rest in peace to the deceased and my condolences to the family.
