In every workplace, there is always office politics and it takes every ounce of mental strength (and sometimes even physical strength) to restrain yourself from acting out.
I am sure we all have at least once in our life wished we could have slapped that annoying colleague who just wouldn’t shut up.
Luckily for me, I have a vivid imagination and that alone will satiate me.
I am not condoning violence, but I am definitely not opposed to throwing shade when required.
So I was speechless, to say the least, when I heard about a woman causing her colleague to go blind in one eye.
According to The Straits Times, a part-time hostess was blinded in her left eye after a colleague’s stiletto heel hit her eye—and the eyeball popped out.
What Happened
It happened in the wee hours of the morning on 8 October 2015, at Club One KTV Boutique.
Both hostesses—28-year old Siti Zahara Afifi Abdul Karim (culprit) and 30-year old Nur Lena Rahmat (victim) got into a heated argument of sorts.
It is safe to say they didn’t have a friendly working relationship.
The argument ensued a brawl, and both of them fell to the floor.
There were two witnesses at the club and one of them tried to intervene but it was a futile attempt.
Zahara started kicking Lena in her heels which were about 14.5 cm—close to 6 inches—and Lena felt the heel hit her eyelid twice before the heel went into her eye.
HOLY SH*T!
She then started screaming, “I cannot see, I cannot see.”
She was then rushed to Tan Tock Shen Hospital. Her left eye was removed and an orbital implant was done. Her right eye was also affected—temporal hemianopia, which means she could only see the nasal part of her visual field.
Why did it happen?
Like mentioned before, they weren’t really on the best of terms prior to the violent cat fight.
The Straits Times reported that the court heard that Zahara’s younger sister was in a relationship with Lena’s friend.
When the relationship went south, Lena’s friend wanted to continue to pay for the younger sister’s braces (yeah, that thing on your teeth).
Lena Rahmat wasn’t having it so she gave her two cents and urged her friend not to continue paying for the braces.
Unfortunately, Zahara got wind of it and got into an argument with Lena about her alleged interference.
BUT STILL?!? NEED TO KICK SOMEONE IN 6-INCH HELLS? OVER BRACES?
What Now
Zahara was convicted of causing grievous hurt to Lena by doing a rash act to endanger the personal safety of others last week (3 October), which is why this news has resurfaced.
District Judge Mathew Joseph will here Zahara’s lawyer Wilbur Lim’s mitigation plea and the prosecution’s submission on sentence on Oct 31.
If found guilty, the maximum penalty is four years’ jail and a $10,000 fine.
I am speechless. There is no need for violence and you can always talk about it, instead of raising fists or heels! If talking doesn’t work, resort to passive-aggressive acts.
I am kidding (sort of).
Just…don’t use your heels.
