If you are not familiar with who Julian Hee is, you should have seen him in many of Mediacorp television dramas such as The Champion. which starred fellow Mediacorp artistes like Jeanette Aw and Felicia Chin as well as the Channel 5 drama, Heartlanders.
Apparently, about four years ago, Julian Hee had got into a driving spat with a retired school principal, in which the retired principal alleged that he had cut into his lane dangerously and grabbed his glasses. Julian denied the accusations then.
So, just two days ago, on 7 June 2017, Julian Hee got into yet another incident at Old Airport Road. In his Facebook post, he mentioned that he was in his car when the driver next to him opened his car door, and hit Hee’s car. The driver hit Hee’s car so hard that it shook.
“A guy open his car’s door next to my car , Knocking onto my car hard. My whole car shook. I came down and said “come on”!”
At that moment, the man went on a tirade and started to yell at Hee, asking him he he saw any damages on his car. When Hee responded that there was a dent, the driver got even more angry and yelled that his car couldn’t even reach the dented spot on Hee’s car.
When Hee asked the man not to call him an idiot, little did he know that the man would start hitting him.
“I said dun call me an idiot. He pushed me. And started hammering me. I blacked out and fell on the floor. I went unconscious. A person called the police and ambulance.
What is this world coming to???”
Hee also shared some photos of his injuries in the Facebook post.
But seriously though, what is the world becoming to? I mean, granted, there might have been faults with both parties but that doesn’t give you the right to come down and bash someone?
But in any case, according to the Singapore law, once you hit someone, you are at fault.
According to Section 351 of Singapore’s Assault Law,
“Assault is committed when a gesture or preparation is made with the intention to cause the person (Victim) to apprehend that the person (Offender) who makes the gesture is about to apply criminal force on the victim.”
The possible penalties for the man might be imprisonment for a term up to 3 months or a fine of up to S$1,500, or with both.
Let’s just hope that the driver will get the punishment he deserves.
