Similar to the rest of my like-minded Westies, a journey all the way to the other end of Singapore is too much of a hassle.
If I do have to make the trip though, it would only be for one reason: Changi Airport.
Needless to say, I enjoy going to Changi Airport because:
- The air conditioning system is great especially in the sweltering heat
- It’s the passport to a mini escapade away from the never-ending stress in Singapore or at least motivates me to save up for my next vacation
But now, you have additional reasons to turn up at the airport.
New Attractions at Jewel Changi
If you’ve read our previous articles, you’d have heard that Jewel Changi is slated to launch next month along with a number of well-loved tenants.

Of course I can’t give pass up on a visit to Jewel Changi; after all I have to live up to my name – Krystal right?
All the stores expected to open at Jewel Changi look very promising but I have my eyes set on the one and only Shake Shack because I’ve heard and seen many international YouTubers sing its praises.
Before I go on about my love for burgers and all things unhealthy, let me stop myself real quick.
If you are one who never fails to have room for dessert regardless of how much you just ate, I’ve got news sweeter than sugar for you.
Rich & Good Cake Shop at Jewel Changi
If you’re someone who loves simple yet delectable swiss rolls, you’d definitely have tried Rich & Good Cake Shop at least once.
If you haven’t, then you got to try it. It’s to die-for. (My editor forced me to write that.)
According to The Ordinary Patrons, the Cake Shop “specializes in Swiss rolls, cream cheese carrot cake, walnut cake and chiffon cake.”
Well, guess what? Now, you don’t have to make your way to Kampung Glam to try their soft cake with generous, thick fillings.
Because according to rumours, they’re going to open up shop at Jewel Changi soon.
Good & Affordable
These come in a total of 10 flavors bound to captivate the old and young. If you do decide to try it, definitely get their signature Kaya flavor and bestsellers – Durian and Mango. Other flavors offered include Strawberry, Blueberry, Orange, Coffee, Chocolate and Green Tea with Red Velvet.
The rolls cost S$9 for the standard flavors – chocolate, coffee, strawberry, blueberry; and S$10 for more exotic flavors – red velvet, kaya, durian, mango, orange and green tea.
More than worth it for what you’ll get. (Read: my editor forced me to write this.)
But well, I got curious. Are they really that good?
Food review
It seems to be, given how people are raving about them online.
According to netizen Mr Digester, “The sponge cake itself was soft, fluffy and moist. The ratio of filling to cake was just nice too, but I wish it packed a stronger punch in green tea flavour.”
Netizen Rowena who tried the Mango Swiss roll said it boasts “a refreshing taste with a slight tint of sourness in that sweet treat of soft, fluffy cake layered with famous old-school cake cream. It helped to slightly neutralise the entire sweetness of the dessert in itself.”
Motivated to sink your teeth into the Swiss rolls?
