As Asians, we all know that our parents care for us one way or another. Likewise, we love our parents very much. But somehow, it’s just generally difficult and awkward for us to say that we love them.
It was probably way easier to say “I love you” to my parents as compared to right now when I’m all grown up.
Most of us would know what I’m feeling, but even though we don’t say those three words, it doesn’t mean that we don’t express that love through actions.
Likewise, our parents also express their love through their actions.
One Taiwanese father also showed his love for his daughter when he painstakingly washed paint off his hand using solvent even though it hurt so bad, just because he didn’t want to embarrass her by turning up at her school’s Christmas production looking unkempt.
The Backstory
The father was someone who worked in the paint production line. This meant that he would often leave work with paint stains on his hands after having to deal with so much of it throughout his work.
In a post on social media, he also revealed that since he worked with paint so much, more often than not, the ordinary washing powder would not be enough for him to wash off all the stains.
He Doesn’t Want To Embarrass His Daughter
Knowing that he had to attend his daughter’s Christmas production at school later that evening, he forced himself to bear with the pain as he washed the paint off with strong solvents for a solid period of 30 minutes.
We all know that if you expose your hands to strong liquids, your hands will start to burn after a while.
He knew that his daughter was waiting for him at school, so he had to be fast in removing the stains and head home quickly to grab a change of clothes.
All these just to look presentable in front of his daughter and her friends because he didn’t want himself to become a subject of mockery for her.
He said that he didn’t mind if other parents saw what he looked like. He was only worried that his daughter would be unhappy if her friends commented about how untidy her father looked. Kids are direct and can sometimes be very cruel.
This post subsequently went viral on social media and many netizens applauded him for being such a loving father to his daughter.
Moral of the story is, we don’t always get to see the sacrifices that our parents have to make for us. So treasure your loved ones and embrace them when you see them!
