Fellow Pink Dot Ambassador Called Out Tosh Rock For Lack of Responsibility

Cats speak to each other with “meows”, dogs speak to each other with “woofs”, ants speak to each other with touches and humans have now evolved to speak to others via the Internet.

Just ask Ian Fang. Or Carrie Wong. Or Lawrence Wong. Or even Boris Lin, whom you’ve no idea who he is until recently.

And now, just ask Subhas.

Subhas, a Pink Dot Ambassador

Before you go, “Hey, isn’t Subhas that no-nonsense criminal lawyer?!”

Well, not that Subhas.

We’re talking about this Subhas.

If he looks familiar, it’s because he’s the Internet queen Preetipls’ brother who has appeared in a number of Preetipls’ videos.

Not only that, he, together with his sister, is also one of the four Pink Dot SG 2019 ambassadors.

The other two is Beatrice Chia-Richmond and of course, Tosh Rock.

And if you don’t come to our app daily, you might not know the controversy surrounding Tosh Rock.

Recap of Tosh Rock’s Controversy

So, Tosh, the serious-on-screen-yet-gentle-off-screen man who played the iconic Sergeant Ong in Ah Boys to Men, was selected to a Pink Dot ambassador, with the event taking place on 29 June 2019 at Hong Lim Park.

The annual event, which has been running since 2009, has often attracted massive crowd and media coverage. An event in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in Singapore, attendees would form up to create a “pink dot” to show support for inclusiveness, diversity and the freedom to love, so if you’re going, please make sure you’re not colour blind and wear the wrong colour.

In addition, there would be concert performances and booths sponsored by organizations supporting the LGBT community and causes, and ambassadors (usually popular celebrities) would also promote the event.

However, a netizen managed to dig out homophobic posts made by Tosh many years back.

That obviously didn’t go well with netizens, even when Tosh clarified that he’s no longer the boy he was and hoped that we see him as the man he is now.

You know, Ah Boys to Men.

But he succumbed to the hate and eventually bailed out, posting an Instagram video to explain his decision, and then announcing that he would be taking a break from social media.

Whatever happened next is unclear, but fellow ambassador Subhas has stepped in to give his two cents’ worth.

So, Subhas posted this after the incident, which is shared by his sister as well:

Here are what he posted lest you don’t have a Facebook account (not surprising, since we do have youngsters in the office who never had a Facebook account before):

Simply put, he alleged that Tosh has not spoken with anyone from the Pink Dot committee after his old Tweets surfaced, and just quit all of a sudden.

He used also strong words, alleging that Tosh “abandon(ed) ship and now people from the community in the committee have to clean up your mess.”

Now, of course, before judging, remember that this is essentially a one-sided story, and Tosh has promised to quit social media temporarily.

In addition, it’s unknown whether Tosh is allowed to speak directly to the committee, as usually, there would be middlemen (e.g. manager, agency, etc) involved.

Nevertheless, here’s one lesson from this unusual saga: at least now we know more about Subhas. He can rap, like this:
