What is New Year without a display of iridescent fireworks at the stroke of midnight?
This year’s countdown is going to be even more epic than yesteryear coz’ you will be ushering the New Year with five rounds of fireworks!
The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown—organised by the URA—will be treating you guys to hourly fireworks display starting from 8:05 P.M., TODAY reported.
The last round of firework will be a 6-minute spectacle, ushering in the new year with a big bang.
A day after Christmas (26 Dec) you can also be treated to a five-minute display of light projection against the Fullerton Hotel’s façade which will be shown every half-hour, from 8 P.M. to 10 P.M.

There will also be a slew of activities happening across the Marina Bay area and Civic District during New Year’s Eve.
The Civic District
Calling all gym bunnies! You can do yoga and other group exercises in this area as it will be a car-free zone during the eve of New Year.
You can also enjoy movie screenings and head to the nearby museums such as the Asian Civilisation Museum (open till midnight) and National gallery (open till 2 A.M.).
The Float@Marina Bay
Those who want to lepak should head to The Float@Marina Bay where you can have a picnic or shop at an outdoor flea market.
Or you can head to the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival as it will be open from 3 P.M. to 2 A.M.
The Promontory and Bayfront Event Space
Now, if you want to usher in the new year with some good live music, then this is for you. Expect live performances from bands such as Falling Feathers and TheLionCityBoyy.
With so many activities to choose from, you have no excuse to stay at home. But hey, if that is your thing, I am not judging. To each his own.
