Fireworks are, to put it in adult terms, like a one-night stand. They light up your life for one night, and poof, just disappear after that.
But you get the idea: they are a beautiful sight to behold.
Unfortunately, they don’t happen very often. Only particularly festive and important occasions warrant their projections.
So I’m sure Yishun dwellers were in for a real treat, when fireworks were blasted off in the sky in the area.
On 18 October 2017, Stomper Kyocheong was baffled to spot fireworks above a multi-storey carpark at Yishun Ring Road at midnight.
It was supposedly the first time she had seen fireworks in the area near Yishun Park Hawker Centre.
She proceeded to take a video of the rare occurence, and sent it to Stomp.
“Is this even legal?” she asked, adding that she was uncertain who had fired the fireworks into the sky.
I’m a simple guy: I see fireworks; I like.
However, some Netizens were evidently more… complicated.
And then we have the chill guys.
Meanwhile we have ones speculating that it was because of Deepavali.
And finally, give it up for Singapore’s own funny guys.
Can you blast fireworks whenever you feel like it?
Technically, no. Fireworks are banned in Singapore (except for major, festive reasons).
Whoever got that firework popping, violated the law in the process unless they’ve got approval.
Which we won’t know if approval is being granted in this case.
Moral of the story
Don’t play with big fireworks.
Dabble with the small ones instead.
It might not make as much of an impact, but it’s legal.
And in Singapore, legal’s the keyword.
