If asked, most of us would say they love to sleep. The thing is, almost none of us sleep well in spite of that. In fact, sleep deprivation is currently a very big health issue among basically all the age groups. Teenagers blame school, adults blame work, so on and so forth.

In China, there’s a company offering 100,000 RMB (20,000 SGD) for a professional sleeper.

Don’t need to worry about work affecting your sleep when sleeping is your job.

The company offering this position is actually a well-known health supplement firm Nao Baijin. Sleep testers will have to test out their products, simulating the sleep patterns of people with different schedules, particularly those suffering from sleep deprivation.

Unfortunately, sleeping is not the entire job. They’ll have to write research reports about the effectiveness of the supplements, and how the sleep quality could be improved. Turns out, it’s not that easy!

Who would’ve thought a job, where you literally sleep, could be difficult? Unbelievable.

Did you know, in America large hospitals often employ sleep testers for research in treating insomnia? Apparently, sleep testers there can earn up to 300,000 USD (419,000 SGD) a year. Just sign me up right now.

According to a career advisor, as sleep deprivation affects more and more people, the need for sleep testers will increase. Why didn’t my school’s career counsellors tell me about this? And I get to earn up to 35,000 SGD a month in America just sleeping? (and probably writing reports, but what the heck it’s so worth it)

This is only the medical side of sleep testing. There’s also bed testing, and hotel testing among many other sleep-related jobs, where you get paid to sleep.

Jumping Jesus on a goddamn pogo stick, these are literally the best jobs in the world. You’re not even working when you’re awake!

Okay.

I better stop here before I quit my job on impulse. Goddamn.
