Some Firms Accidentally Listed Almost $200K a Month Jobs in MyCareersFuture.sg

I consider myself lucky to be scrolling mostly through Facebook and Instagram these days.

For fresh grads or those who were retrenched, their daily scroll may be on job-seeking sites instead. People are struggling to find jobs in one of the worst economic downturns the country has ever faced.

Perhaps that’s why these job listings on MyCareersFuture.sg had seemed like an oasis in the middle of Sahara desert for a moment.

Six-figure monthly salary

The Sunday Times found at least 10 jobs that promise salaries of $100,000 or more on the national job portal last month.

Did you know that you can be a project manager and earn $160,000 to $200,000 every month? The job scope involves conceptualizing digital products for financial technology with your 10-year experience.

Alternatively, become a financial services industry consultant with at least five years’ experience. Dole out some seriously good advice and you would get a paycheck of $130,000 to $200,000 a month!

A bit too good to be true, eh?

Listing Errors

As the saying goes, if it seems too good to be true, chances are it is.

The jaw-dropping figures were likely a result of entry blunders, said Mr Paul Heng, managing director of NeXT Career Consulting Group. Otherwise, it could be a technical error that caused the per annum amount to be shown monthly salaries instead.

Oh, MyCareersFuture.sg, why you gotta disappoint us like that 🙁

Some Listings Had Been Edited

Straits Times contacted the firms involved for clarifications.

Mr Bryant Ee, the co-founder of Omni Machinery, had acknowledged the administrative error on the listing. The business, which services and rents out mobile elevated work platforms, is looking to hire a business development executive.

Initially, they appeared to be offering a monthly salary of $40,000 to $150,000. It had since been revised to $3,000 to $12,500 monthly.

The company saw a 70% plunge in revenue during Circuit Breaker as demand for equipment dwindled.

But, Mr Bryant Ee remains optimistic about business resuming to normal levels next month. He believes it’s important to plan ahead and adopt new ways of conducting business.

As a result, he decided to start hiring now in hopes of giving new recruits more time to pick up the necessary skills.

However, some companies have yet to respond or edit their recruitment offers.

Real Opportunities

These six-figure salaries might have been a boo-boo, but there are still plenty of real opportunities out there. For instance, a new job portal has been created with over 80 available positions in the sustainability sector.

Besides, Straits Time recently found that 40% of the 36,000 vacancies on MyCareersFuture.sg pay more than $5,000 a month.

At any rate, they are better than getting $7.50 for writing 1000 words lah.
