I ended up in this embarrassing scene more than once in my life, and I am pretty sure you have been through it too.

You unzip your bag, and when you try to zip it up again, it just won’t close. You start cursing and hope that it’s just a temporary glitch, and try again.

However, it won’t zip up. I know it is not easy to look for a guy that does repairs for this, and it is not immediate either.

Thankfully, this hack we found, uploaded by YouTube Channel UCAN Zippers USA, will save you the trouble.

Here is what you need to do.

Usually, the zip does not close from the bottom. This sort of damage happens to bags and pouches the most. The zipper has a slider which loosens up from regular use.

Yes, your bad habit of playing with your zipper up and down. It is worn out the slider. The slider doesn’t engage on the teeth of the zipper as well as it used to.

This is What you Need to do for a Quick Fix

Firstly, clamp down the top and back portion of the slider. It’s pretty much pinching it with your fingers and holding it in place.

As you do this, the teeth of the zipper are aligned. Take a pair of pliers and apply a bit of pressure on the edges of the slider.

Go with a bit of pressure at a time and increase it if you feel it needs to be a bit tighter. You don’t want to go overboard with this step. It might make it difficult for the slider to move along the teeth of the zipper.

Give it the pull to see if the zipper is engaging properly. Turn the zipper around on both sides to see if it is secured the way it should be.

You can even run your zipper completely up and down the trail. It should be good to go.

Now that’s one handy hack I’ve learnt today, and I’m pretty sure you did too. I have to keep a pair of pliers at my desk, but hey, if it saves me from being an embarrassment, then why not?
