Food Delivery Rider Fined $2,000 for Punching Cleaner at Punggol Plaza

A food delivery rider was fined $2,000 for one charge of voluntarily causing hurt. He punched a cleaner at Punggol Plaza.

However, as the food delivery rider, 60-year-old Wee Hai Heng, could not afford to pay the fine, he will go to prison to jiak kali png instead.

Wee asked for leniency for a shorter in-default sentence. He eventually landed one week in jail.

Food for thought: perhaps they should send him to an anger management course instead. Regardless, he can have fun cleaning that off his record.

The maximum punishment for voluntarily causing hurt is three years’ jail, a $5,000 fine, or both.

Food Delivery Rider Punched Cleaner Over Cleaning-in-Progress Notice

You might be thinking: “Okay… Did he punch the cleaner because the cleaner wasn’t doing her job?” (which, even then, is no excuse to punch anyone)

No. It’s the opposite. The cleaner was punched for doing her job.

On 19 March, a 48-year-old cleaner entered the male washroom in the afternoon to clean it. She placed a no-entry sign outside the toilet.

Upon seeing such toilet cleaning notices, most of us would walk away and look for another washroom. But not this food delivery rider.

Wee decided to enter the toilet nonetheless.

Taking “close one eye” to the next level.

Of course, the Chinese national wasn’t too pleased with the unexpected visitor. She started nagging at him, which eventually escalated into a full-blown dispute.

The food delivery rider then walked to the no-entry sign and kicked it before punching the cleaner’s left cheek.

Aiya… This sort of thing, complain in the COMPLAINT SINGAPORE Facebook group enough already; why resort to violence?

Fortunately, a passer-by heard the commotion and defused the situation. He called the police afterwards.

Cleaner’s Teeth Loosened After Getting Punched by Food Delivery Rider

When the police arrived, the 48-year-old cleaner complained of pain in her left cheek.

She was sent to the hospital, where checks revealed that her teeth had loosened due to the blow the food delivery rider dealt.

Luckily not bo geh yet. Age will still be the one to deal that blow eventually.

Food Delivery Rider Claims Cleaner Injured Him As Well

In the food delivery rider’s statement to the police, he failed to state that the cleaner had injured him. However, later on, during sentencing, he suddenly claimed that the cleaner did, in fact, injure him.

Regardless, it was noted that police investigations also did not reveal that the cleaner injured the food delivery rider in any manner.
