Recently, CNBC proved to the world that Singapore is one of the safest places in the world.
By leaving his laptop, smartphone and wallet on the table before going off to order some food.
And we’ve also written about how a footage of a man stealing another diner’s bag just two days later in Singapore proved them wrong.
Now, whether you agree with CNBC or not, you have to admit that some of us take the low crime rate in Singapore for granted.
You still see people leaving their bags behind to chope seats while they go off to get food despite the fact that it’s practically inviting trouble.
So you think, orhhhh, I’ll just get someone to jaga for me lah!
Not a bad idea…but here’s a quick question: do you leave your belongings like this?
If you do, your barang-barang might still get stolen.
Here’s a footage that shows what happens if you leave your belongings this way
This video was first uploaded by STOMP and it showed a man leaving his bag and phone behind.
A lady, presumedly his friend, was seated opposite the table from his belongings and completely absorbed in her phone.
A man and two women took the table beside the victims. Then, the man instructed one of the women to distract the customer.
She the customer on the shoulder, getting her to turn around.
While she was distracted, the man quickly pulled the items towards him before hiding it in his bag.
Meanwhile, the customer was still happily browsing on her smartphone, not knowing that her friend’s belongings had been swiped.

Getting someone to jaga doesn’t mean your belongings are totally safe
According to STOMP, the incident allegedly happened at Bedok but it couldn’t be verified.
But, let’s face it, the lesson still applies. After all, how many times have you, or your friends, done the exact same thing?
Remember hor, we’re pretty much absorbed in our smartphones while waiting for time to pass.
So bring your valuables with you when you leave the table, and if it’s a huge ass bag, leave it beside your makan buddy instead of somewhere that’s not as easily noticed.
Who knows, you might just thank me one day 😉
