With more people avoiding the virus and remaining at home, it is natural that apps liike GrabFood or foodpanda become our most-used app.
However, it seems like there will be another player soon – Gojek.
Gojek Might Offer Food Delivery Services by End of This Year
If you’re thinking, Didn’t Gojek already offer food delivery services before? Well, you are right. Last year, they partnered with Deliveroo to allow their drivers to deliver food in areas around central Singapore.
This is to help cater for the increased demand for food delivery during the Circuit Breaker period.
However, that was only a temporary thing then. This time, things are a little more permanent.
Gojek Courier Services
In the future, you might just say, “Eh, want to Gojek this present?” for Gojek is not only going to expand to the food delivery service side of the market: They are looking to go into courier services as well.
According to Lien Choong Luen, Gojek Singapore general manager, these two services “make a lot of sense” here.
This is not something new for Gojek, as these services are already in operation in the Indonesia and Vietnam markets. Gojek is also planning to introduce other services such as payments and e-commerce in the longer term.
New features will also be up and running by the end of the year. No specifics of these new features were elaborated.
Not sure about you, but it sure sounds like the other green app.
Gojek Rides
In case you’re wondering since they are expanding into other markets, does that mean their ride-sharing market is unstable now? No.
According to Mr Lien, he believes the overall ride-sharing market in Singapore is “relatively stable”. Their drivers have increased by 48% in Sep over the same month last year.
This may be due to some of the new measures Gojek rolled out, like slashing its commission from 20% to 10%. This new measure will be in place until at least the end of 2022.
Despite the number of people working from home, Gojek’s ride volume has held up due to their various promotions like the vaccination campaign. Over a million rides were taken under this campaign.
Their most recent “925” campaign allows customers to unlock 50% off their Gojek rides for up to five days a week.
Gojek is also committed to shifting its entire fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030.
