Aside from that scare we had on 27 Oct when the number of new cases surpassed 5,000, our daily case count has largely hovered around the 3,000 to 4,000 mark.

It may not seem like it, but our weekly growth infection rate – the ratio of community cases in the past week over the week before – is going down as well. It currently stands at 0.96.

This is good news as co-chair of the COVID-19 task force Lawrence Wong said last month that some COVID-19 measures may be eased if the weekly infection growth rate drops below 1.

Sadly, despite our overall low death rate, too many people are still succumbing to the disease.

12 COVID-19 Deaths

12 more COVID-19 cases died from complications, bringing our death toll to 442.

Aged between 59 and 99, all 12 cases had various underlying health conditions.

The health ministry did not specify what these conditions were.

3,635 New COVID-19 Cases

3,635 new COVID-19 cases were reported yesterday (3 Nov), an increase of 139 from the previous day’s tally.

The cases comprise 3,223 infections in the community, 409 in migrant worker dormitories, and three imported infections.

Among the local cases are 535 seniors above 60.

MOH Closely Monitoring 9 Large Clusters

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently monitoring nine large clusters with new cases, the biggest of which is at the Institute of Mental Health. With seven new cases, the cluster has swelled to 294 infections, comprising 278 patients and 16 staff members.

Two cases each were linked to the clusters at Acacia Home and Banyan Home @ Pelangi Village, bringing their totals to 25 and 93 respectively.

Four cases each were also added to the Growing Learners Student Care (GLSC) cluster and the PCF Sparkletots @ Whampoa Block 85 cluster. The GLSC cluster has 15 cases including 11 students, while the preschool cluster has 23 cases including 14 students.
