GrabFood Rider Collided with Pedestrian & His Defence was That He Rang the Bell

GrabFood riders seem to be getting a lot bolder these days.

From demonstrating road rage at drivers to now demanding right-of-way on pedestrian pathways, they are well on their way to becoming Singaporean’s most disliked road users.

Hit Woman on Pedestrian Path

In a video posted on Facebook page Singapore Incidents, an exasperated lady can be heard accusing a Grab deliveryman of hitting her with his bike.

“Why you bang into me,” she asks, clearly irritated.

At this point, it seems like a “he said, she said” moment, but the man then makes an incredulous statement.

Claims He Already Rang the Bell

The man, who was visible in the frame, replies, “Lady, I already ring the bell right?”

Yeah, but that definitely doesn’t justify hitting a pedestrian.

Indignantly, the woman voices the same thoughts exactly.

And then we are thrown into the midst of a ping-pong game, whereby the Grab worker profusely claims he rang the bell and the woman insists that he still isn’t allowed to hit her.

He then says that the woman should have moved aside. And she counters that he should have moved.

In quite the anticlimactic manner, the 20-second-long conflict finally comes to an end when the Grab deliveryman decides to pedal off.

We’ll take that as an admission of defeat then.

Most of them sided with the woman, saying that the rider had no right to hit her just because he rang the bell.

Others called him “unreasonable” and “self-entitled”.

Many commented on possible ways the rider should have responded, such as “ring the bell, slow down and give the person time to move aside”.

Another user wrote that when riders are unable to pass pedestrians in a safe manner, they are to dismount and push or be patient and wait for clearance.
