GrabShare Will be Suspended from 9 Feb, 1am Until Further Notice Due to Wuhan Virus

In case you’ve no idea what GrabShare is, here’s a brief introduction: it’s basically a poor man’s normal Grab ride.

It works just like a normal Grab ride except that the driver will pick not just you, but some other passengers who are going the same direction, too.

Because you’re sharing a ride, the price would be a little lower, but you’d have to add more time to your journey.

Perfect for people who’ve just knocked off and didn’t want to squeeze in the MRT.

Here’s an image of how a GrabShare trip looks like in a gif:

It’s actually quite a popular feature and according to what I understand from drivers, they love it as well as it meant more earnings in less time.

But unfortunately, it’ll be temporarily suspended due to the Wuhan virus.

GrabShare Will be Suspended from 9 Feb, 1am Due to Wuhan Virus

From tomorrow morning onwards, GrabShare will be temporarily suspended until further notice.

All other Grab services are not affected.

But seriously…it’s not a good message, no?

I’m pretty sure people would be in closer contact with other people while in the train, so for GrabShare to be suspended is almost akin to suspending public transport.

But I digress.

Message to Drivers: Your Wellbeing is Our Priority

Over on the other side of the fence, some Grab drivers have been cancelling GrabShare calls as they think riders should ride alone during this outbreak.

In a message sent to drivers, it’s mentioned explicitly that the decision was made due to the Wuhan virus outbreak.

In the update, they’ve also mentioned that the driver’s wellbeing is their top priority.

So, if you intend to GrabShare to work on Monday, you know what to do le.
