The Chinese has a saying – when you drink water, remember it’s source. Even when you have accomplished something great in life, always remember the people who got you where you are today – even when they are roast ducks.
A charcoal duck rice stall owner helped his daughters through university, and now they are doing their parts to help out at the stall as a way to express their gratitude to their father. The roast duck stall, Jiu Xiang Xiang Charcoal Roast Meal rose to fame not only for using charcoal to roast their meat produce, but also for selling a whole charcoal roasted duck for just S$16.80 – which is considered really, really cheap.
The 3 stalls are located at Balestier, Bukit Batok and Woodlands. A reader has kindly informed us that their only store is located at 558 Balestier Road.
Coming from a family who had a duck farm in the past, the stall owner stands by only using fresh duck meat. The stall owner’s father used to own a farm on his own, and passed on the family business to his children. The stall owner then had an idea of opening his very own roast duck stall, and even engaged the help of a chef to learn the ropes of the business.
Aged 24 and 22, the daughter of the owner has been helping their father with the business ever since they graduated, and are really happy at doing so.
I can totally foresee many guys frequenting this stall very, very soon. We couldn’t find any images of his daughters online but we believe that in due time, the online netizens will be able to do so with their impressive CSI skills – just don’t wrongly pin-point it to UOB again hor.
