In GTA, when you’ve broken the law and the cops are on your tail, you’d typically try to escape by speeding as fast as you can, even if it means destroying everything in your path.
Even if you get caught and arrested, you can simply return to a previous checkpoint, and start again.
But, as you’d know if you ever played KFC’s dating game, real life is a little different to video games.

In real life, if you get into trouble with the cops, trying to evade them will simply land you in more trouble.
One man in Bukit Batok didn’t get this memo, however, as he tried a real-life GTA escape from the police.
Man Did a GTA-Style Escape in Bukit Batok Carpark But Was Still Caught
At around 4am on Monday (28 Dec), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) conducted an operation in Bukit Batok to arrest a man for suspected drug-related offences.
Officers engaged the man but he refused to comply.
What happens next looks like something out of a video game, but it actually occurred at an open-space car park along Bukit Batok Street 33.
At the beginning of the video, we see a stationary police car blocking the path of a silver sedan.
The car then accelerates backwards faster than some cars on the KPE, smashing into an innocent parked car.
It then drives off from the scene, while the police car remains stationary.

In his attempt to escape, the man hit seven parked vehicles, as well as a police vehicle.
Two police officers were injured by the man during the incident and taken to the hospital, according to CNA.
They were discharged after receiving treatment.
Man Arrested After Nationwide Search
The police immediately launched a nationwide search for the suspect and found his getaway car around Block 257 Jurong East Street 24 at 5.10am.
“With the aid of images from police cameras, officers established that the man had entered a residential unit at the said block,” SPF said.

Officers then arrested the 26-year-old man in the apartment.
Facing Several Charges
As for why the police tried to arrest him in the first place, well, it’s because he was already a wanted man by both the SPF and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), as he allegedly:
- Absconded from bail for an outstanding case of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon
- Drove whilst under disqualification
- Failed to report for urine test and for drug consumption
The man will be charged on Wednesday (30 Dec) with two counts of rash act causing hurt.
If found guilty, he faces up to a year in prison, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
CNB is also investigating the man’s drug-related activities. Police investigations are ongoing.
