Former Mediacorp radio personality Gunalan Morgan faces multiple charges related to voyeurism and inappropriate communication with an underage girl after appearing in court on 21 March 2025.

Voyeurism and Sexual Communication Charges Against Popular Tamil DJ

The 43-year-old Singaporean, who worked as a producer-presenter at Mediacorp’s Tamil radio station Oli968, was handed seven charges in total. These include three counts of voyeurism involving two women and a charge of sexual communication with a minor below 16 years old.

Court documents reveal that Gunalan allegedly had sexual communications with the underage girl on four separate occasions between 25 August and 31 August 2024.

The exact age of the minor was not disclosed due to a gag order, which also protects the identities of all three victims and the locations where the offences took place.

In a separate incident on 28 August 2024, Gunalan is accused of using his mobile phone to record a woman’s intimate parts without her consent on four different occasions. He allegedly committed a similar offence involving another woman on 8 October 2024.

Obstruction of Justice and Legal Consequences

The radio personality faces an additional charge of obstructing the course of justice. According to court documents, after learning that a police report had been lodged against him, Gunalan allegedly deleted his Instagram conversations with the minor on 16 September 2024.

Mediacorp told the media that Gunalan “was immediately suspended from work upon our knowledge of his arrest, and a termination notice has been served on him.” The company declined to comment further on the matter.

During his court appearance, Gunalan indicated he needed time to seek legal advice. The court heard that if he intends to plead guilty, the prosecution will proceed with three of his charges, with the remaining four taken into consideration.

The radio DJ, who was unrepresented in court, is scheduled to appear again on 21 April 2025.

If convicted of sexual communication with a minor under 16, Gunalan could face up to two years in jail, a fine, or both.

For obstructing the course of justice, he could be jailed for up to seven years, fined, or both.
