If you felt that the white spots that appear on your nails are simply because your nails are grown this way, this is not true. White spots on the nails are signs of some problems in our health, ranging from small problems to much more serious diseases.

Manicure, pedicure
Ladies love manicure and pedicure, but they do not know that doing manicure and pedicure too frequently will damage the nails, acrylic nails will actually hurt your nail base as well. Ladies should be aware of the types of nail polish and nail polish remover that they’re not allergic to, white spots will appear when you’re allergic to a certain type of nail polish or remover.

Deficiencies
When you are low in calcium, protein and zinc, the white spots will appear on your nails as well. Calcium, protein and zinc are found in our human body, and we need these three components to maintain a healthy body system.

Calcium deficiency occurs more frequently when we start to age naturally, although it can also happen at a younger age, and we all know that most of the calcium in our body are stored in our bones. When you have calcium deficiency, you are recommended to consume food that is rich in calcium. Examples are soy-milk that’s enriched with calcium, milk, yogurt, cheese, soybeans and many more.

You will know you have protein deficiency when you start seeing horizontal bands across your nail bed, and because they’re on your nail bed, these lines won’t grow out of your nails, they’ll only disappear when you have enough protein in your body. Eggs, fish, pistachio nuts, pork, chicken and turkey are some foods that are rich in protein that you can consume to overcome protein deficiency.

White spots or streaks can also appear on your nails when you have zinc deficiency, some examples of food that can help to this situation are oysters, veal liver, sesame seeds and dark chocolate.

Diseases
The white spots that appear on your nails could also be signs of liver and kidney diseases, this is why you should consult a doctor when you see white spots appearing on your nails. White spotted nails might be a sign of liver diseases such as hepatitis and cirrhosis, and nails that are partially white could also be a sign of kidney failure.

So if you’re thinking that the white spots on your nails are just because they’re born this way, it’s time to consult a doctor and find out whether is there anything happening to your body.
